Appealing Redundancy

Can you appeal redundancy during the consultation period, and does appealing it actually change the date you become redundant?

On what grounds? Purely spurious to remain in employment longer, there's no gain.

I think I am being targeted for redundancy due to my age (60 years),the average age is 25-30 years and my long list of health issues, Cardiovascular Disease, Kidney disease, memory issues caused by early onset cardiovascular dementia, mental health issues, anxiety, depression, insomnia, plantar fasciitis, awaiting several skin cancers to removed, and other problems currently under investigation.
I should add my work attendance is perfect,no sick days in 8 years.

are any of those effecting performance?

Consultation is there to discuss the situation and look for ways to reduce the impact of the need to reduce staff also an opportunity put your case forward why it should not be you.

Okay so my employer made me redundant yesterday after 14 and a half years loyal service, reason given due to down turn in business due to Corona virus and low oil prices. I should point out the Ebitda for the year is about 6.5 million, about 1 million down from last year but still showing a healthy profit.

I believe I was target due to my age (60 years old) and my poor health. I am on borrowed time but can still do a full day’s work as could as a 20-year-old there. No performance issues, are mentioned.

I have decided to appeal their decision, started with the internal appeal, and let it go to unfair dismissal if necessary.

Thought from anyone, how are my chances rated on winning this?

What are you hoping to get out of this if you did win? Reinstatement at a company that blatantly doesn't want you, compensation? They've made their decision and are unlikely to contradict themselves by changing their decision.

Acas think I have a good case; no, I would not want my job back now. I was unfairly targeted by the manager doing the selection process. We have known each other since I joined the company and he managed to climb to the top. We had our differences in the past but i thought we had overcome those. I will take my appeal as far as unfair dismissal and if I do win I will be awarded compensation.

If ACAS think you have a good case, why are you asking for people's views on whether you'll be successful or not?
