Exactly the passbook is the statement - the question asked was which bank accounts don't have statements issued and the answer I gave is a Passbook account which is correct. (I know online you can probably get access to the same information if required).born_again said:

Thanks for comments. Yes, it's the app I used to rename the account. They have checked ins/outs of all accounts and there is no corresponding transfer. They are sending me all transactions they have on the account.
Account was opened 2012 and I used it to help older daughter with driving/car.
I realise how unlikely it sounds but I am so certain hence posting something like this for first time.
I'll go to ombudsman (another first).
Thanks all.

Changing the name has no effect only you see it that’s correct all account details remain unchanged. All accounts can generate statements or a transaction history.MT07 said:Has anyone had any money go missing from a Halifax account upon renaming the account? For a long time, one of my online saver accounts had a balance of £200 (and some pence varying with interest), which I'd set aside for driving lessons/test for a friend's daughter. £200 has disappeared leaving just 50p, and the Halifax are telling me that the account has had no transactions since 2014. This is simply not true; it's as if the more recent account history has disappeared along with the money! Unfortunately the account does not give statements so it is my word against theirs that the money was ever there. The only thing I'd done was change the name of the account around a month ago (a new feature for Halifax), and I noticed the change of balance about a week later. I am wondering if this could have some how been the cause. Halifax tell me the name change is something only I see (surely they would have a record of any activity against an account), and the next step is for me to contact the Financial Ombudsman, who will ask Halifax for a copy of the account transactions and evidence from me that the money was there. I have no statements and therefore no evidence.
You won’t be able to apply to the Ombudsman until you receive a final response letter from Halifax whom you claim are advising you to contact the FO already?
Seems more like someone trying to concoct a vaguely plausible scenario for claiming some money that’s already been withdrawn. If not then there will be a transaction record from Halifax.
Doesnt add up. How did you see the £200 one week and then £0 the next if you weren’t actually looking online at the account with its transactions shown?0 -
You still haven't answered what account it was as any account offered by the Halifax from 2012 will have to provide a statement in some form or other on at least an annual basis, it's a regulatory requirement. The fact the account is still open would lead me to believe they will also have records of all transactions from account opening as it's only eight years old. As I said earlier, banks don't work on a "He said, She said" basis, it keeps records.MT07 said:Thanks for comments. Yes, it's the app I used to rename the account. How certain of the balance are you? As in "I saw it in there and now it's not" or "I think there should be £200 in there but there isn't"
The only other question is do you have any record of paying money into this account?2 -
Before going to the ombudsman I think you should send a SAR to Halifax for all your accounts. I got one back in 5 days recently. This way you’d get all the statements. Ombudsman ideally should be the last step and I think normally you are supposed to have complained to Halifax first.
For your complaint you have weight you need to have some evidence of what’s going on, and at the moment you don’t it seems.0 -
