in Water bills
Hello, wonder if anyone can help...my water company has sent me a bank giro credit of £1176 but for 3 months they have delayed sending the cheque to refund what I have been overcharged. Now they are saying that they only owe me £670 because there was a mistake and they had given me duplicate refunds. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to challenge this? It doesn't seem right they can just change what they said they owed me, nor is it right that i still haven't received any refund for 3 months. Many thanks if anyone can help

Welcome to the forum. If any company - not just utility companies - makes a mistake under UK law they have 6 years to correct that mistake. You need to look at your account to ensure your billing is correct. There shouldn't be a 3 month delay in paying you any refund; but no doubt they will blame Covid 19 and shortage of staff etc.Write to them with a formal complaint.0
