I do sympathise, I’m in the same boat in not being legally able to change the locks but have the barrel and keys at the ready, the second everything is sorted andI am legally able to!

Well done on being close to paying off the next debt!

  • Good luck on your journey. Out of interest is all the debt yours? Or some of it his? Or should some of it be joint, I.e stuff for children or house? How many valuations did you get? I'd say get 3 in total and then aim for average of them that's what my parents did when they divorced. If you can't be there yourself do you have any friends or family who could be there for you?

  • So all quiet on the divorce front, which feels ok for me at the moment.

Paid another £20 off current debt that I’m targeting so just £30 left until it’s gone! I’ve managed an overpayment of £150 so far this month so feeling good.

My worry at the moment is food budget, last month I managed to go under my budget but I already know I’m going to struggle to stay on budget this month, I’m so rubbish with this, I plan, I stocktake cupboards before I go, I don’t buy brands, very frustrating 😠.

  • If you're going over despite planning then maybe you aren't allowing yourself enough. Do you budget it weekly or monthly? I do mine monthly because I never know what week of the month I'm gonna need to buy laundry stuff or cleaning bits etc.

Thanks for your comment it’s really made me think. I budget monthly for the same reason as you. I think what I am going to do is add up all my shopping for the last few months to see what I have actually spent, then set my budget based on that and if I feel like the figure is too much then set myself a realistic target of reducing it slowly, maybe by £5 a week and then when that’s comfortable £10.

  • Another overpayment of £10 off targeted debt, this means £20 left and it will be gone.

Food spend not too bad this week although I am aware I’m over spent on this area for the month but I do have a plan for next month so just damage limitation at the moment to get through to pay day.

I’m focusing on mindful Xmas shopping, only buying what I can afford and not feeling like it’s not enough. I love Christmas but always feel like there is a lot of pressure to spend!

  • Another one bites the dust……

Another debt paid up today 4/15 gone, so that’s 11 left to tackle! The next one is £1612 so is going to take a bit longer but I’ll get there in the end.
