We are currently with Virgin media and we are very unhappy with them. We are moving home shortly to a property which is also on Virgin, We were thinking to switching to Sky and they appear to offering much better package which includes Talk Anytime packages which is essential to us. , We believe Sky is also on Cable can the use the one already on the property supplied by virgin or do we nee to start again.

You are loaned the SkyQ box(es), with a need to send them back if you do leave Sky.Note that you will need to contact Virgin to cancel your packages. If you are still in contract and you want to cancel Virgin because you're moving, expect to get charged early termination fees. If you can get Virgin at the new house it may be better to see your contract out before you decide to move to Sky.0

If you use Virgin at the new house to ‘see your contract out’, be aware that you will start a new minimum term, so if you had ( for example ) 6 months left of a minimum term at your current address moved to the new address and used VM, you wouldn’t have 6 month’s minimum term left , but 12 or more months minimum term0

Where we have agreed with you to continue providing the same services that you received at your current address to your new address and this is during any minimum period, then that minimum period will continue at your new address (for example, where your services are on a 12 month minimum period, if you move during month 7 of your minimum period, the remaining 5 months of your minimum period will apply for those same services being provided at your new address). Where we have agreed with you to change the services you receive at your new address then a new minimum period may apply for those services and the service start date for that new minimum period will be the date that the equipment is installed at your new address.0

Consider me schooled, TBH there cannot be many providers that don’t insist on a new minimum term if you move within an existing minimum.

There seems to be some very good offers from Sky which are substantially cheaper than Virgin Media whose customer service is awful. There is a package available for approximately £53 a month that includes fast Broadband, TV, Netflix and Talk Anytime, which I believes includes line rental and calls to 0870 and 0845 numbers. It also appears there is only a £10 for setting up charge, which includes a satellite and basic Sky Q box. We might be able to negotiate include the better Sky Q which can record more programmes and has additional versatility. We are seriously looking at this option as we are in process of moving house but do not have a date yet..
