I always look forward to the next episode of 'building SANDcastles' with our resident expert, is there anything that HASN'T happened to that family?swingaloo said:
How rude! It takes a lot of effort to annoy as many people as Sweetsand does.williamgriffin said:
Oh dear more effort required.sweetsand said:It happens and not everyone pick it up and this one has been picked up which is good. Its called a mistake typing in the wrong numbers, number - it happen to our son's car a few years ago, his first mot on his then suv, he though he'd sell with an mot as it was nearing three years old, then a few days later prpaing the sale he noted the mileage reading, i thing 51444 or whatever inteaed of the genuine mileage of 51444 - he went to the garage and they sorted it and i don't think they printed off the paper or if there is an explanation on the mot website. You should be ok but see what an mot tester states if one posts here4 -
Yes, they HAVEN'T had the mileage incorrectly recorded on an MOT. The nearest they got was to have 51444 recorded as 51444. I am surprised they had a car so old as to need an MOT.onlyfoolsandparking said:I always look forward to the next episode of 'building SANDcastles' with our resident expert, is there anything that HASN'T happened to that family?2 -
Is that the MSE equivalent of Error 404?Mingarryman said:

They probably struggled to read the numbers as their nose was growing rapidly at the time.Mingarryman said:

Wrong? Or just missing the units?williamgriffin said:
Digital or not it's still wrong.AdrianC said:Is it a digital odometer, with a button to switch between miles and km?
Because 38k miles is 61k km...
You can't change what was recorded two years ago, but there's an obvious explanation.0 -
I think they just proved their point....Mingarryman said:

Thank you for your replies. It is digital but definitely an error rather than changing from km/m but thanks. I'm going to try and go ahead with the sale and hope it doesn't become an issue.
I guess it's a lesson for the future to keep an eye on these things.

Wrong, given swapping the units one reading is incorrect.AdrianC said:

Thank you! the genuine mileage as you may have worked out was something like 15444 but they wrote it as 51444 and even I made a mistake of getting the digits the wrong way around but I am aware of them getting it completly wrong, it happens they are only humna but it has been addressed and IMHO there shoul not be a problem as you can expalin it and correct miealge is shown online.born_again said:

On one of the service plans, ie the the MB my OH's name, first name is mispelt, no big deal.
Several years ago my brother-in-law bought a brand new run around as their other cars were big/long an xj and gls - his wife often drove it as she found it easier - remeber it was a brand new car from a Ford dealer a fiesta - front plates were correct but the back plates the reg only slightly off belong to a white car, Nissain theirs was a black ford fiest - cops pulled her over and asked the usal question and agreed it was a mistake they could have fined her but did not - it happens but happens on mot's a lot more than car reg.
We got sent someones paperwork when the prperty we bought had it converted to HMO - the HMO certificate with other papers sent to us by the coucil with a guy same surname, same road by mistake it happens-1
