I am not saying which CC provider it was, there is no benefit in naming them.Highland76 said:Drip drip drip...so it was Tandem after all? Only you will know if you ever paid the mortgage provider with your CC for whatever reason. So it looks like it wasn’t a gift after all
Get advised to call bank but are not happy. Then call them and find the answer.
Yet are not prepared to help others who maybe in the same situation. Crazy.
Given you had to google Tandem we can rule them out.Life in the slow lane0 -
Reading the posts & the topic title being “unsolicited” (similar the unsolicited goods act) you are looking for a work around to keep the money & that’s the answer that you want.I think most people would notice an unexpected credit in their account to be honest.1

Yes I came asking for help and was pointed in the right direction on the legality of what I needed to do regarding a sum of money being paid into my account, I had already contacted my bank to find out where it had come from. I didn't have time to phone the CC company after that phone call. It is of no help to anyone who the CC company involved was. Certainly not when they have not done anything wrong,born_again said:

You have assumed incorrectly. I wanted to know what the legal position was with regard to money being deposited into an account. If I was looking for a workaround I certainly wouldn't have been posting on the internet. I wouldn't have said anything.adamp87 said:Reading the posts & the topic title being “unsolicited” (similar the unsolicited goods act) you are looking for a work around to keep the money & that’s the answer that you want.I think most people would notice an unexpected credit in their account to be honest.
As for the title its tongue in cheek:unsolicited - not asked for; given or done voluntarily.
gift - a thing given willingly to someone without payment; a present.

Personally I'd shove in a bank account and leave it there till they ask for it back as they paid it in error and only spend it after quite some time has passed (perhaps a year).0

They’d have up to six years to try and reclaim it from you.1882 said:Personally I'd shove in a bank account and leave it there till they ask for it back as they paid it in error and only spend it after quite some time has passed (perhaps a year).Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:1 -
You are missing the common courtesy that is what forums run on.Twincarb said:

Helping others. So anyone else asking, might find the answer or someone else reading this thread will know.
So while you say the CC has done no wrong, but how do you/we know this as you have not spoken to them. Only the bank that the funds were credited to and that they have confirmed that it is a CC you have dealt with.
Clearly they do not just hand out money with no reason.Life in the slow lane4 -
I posted earlier (page 3 comment 5) that I have spoken to the CC company and they informed me they received the payment from my Mortgage company.born_again said:

I have thanked in a previous reply the post that allowed me to identify the legal position which allows anyone who is looking for a similar question over any unexpected payment into any bank which your responsible or party of which is the 1968 Theft Act - 24A Dishonestly retaining a wrongful credit which is page 2 comment 8.
So naming the CC company has absolutely nothing to do with the legal standing0 -
So naming the CC company has absolutely nothing to do with helping or hindering anyone.
(Correction for the last sentence in my last post as it didn't make sense.)0
