OP from what you say you need to point out that the reason they were destroyed was because of inaction by the vendor in not supplying the necessary card information, therefore you are due a refund. (That all assumes you are corrrect)0

Paying for insurance cover was probably a waste of money:GitaGr said:I paid £105.25 to www.dpdlocal-online.co.uk (aka parcel2go) for a return delivery, this included full cover.

Is this a routine scam as they know they'll lose the gems but get much more for them, than they're worth??0

This was a returned parcel not an import and I did provide all details to their exports team and they accepted it. PayPal said to return it in order to receive a refund, which is what I did. Not sure what else I could have done.Hermione_Granger said:

Sounds like it. I bet the seller knew straight away that he wouldn't have to refund anything. Just shocked by PayPal, I have been in touch with them since it all started. The fact that they have disconnected their phone lines and are hiding behind Covid excuse does not help either.Barny1979 said:Is this a routine scam as they know they'll lose the gems but get much more for them, than they're worth??0 -
I am trying to get that information, but DPD Local Online (Parcel2go) are not getting back to me with any details. I have sent them a formal complaint but don't know what else I can do. Just seems absurd that I give them a £400 parcel and pay £105 for a full cover and they have no responsibility and will not refund me anything.32Battalion said:OP from what you say you need to point out that the reason they were destroyed was because of inaction by the vendor in not supplying the necessary card information, therefore you are due a refund. I am really trying, I have been sending them screenshots of everything, invoices and a screenshot of me reaching out to the seller as well, to which, of course, he did not reply.Sandtree said:
Clearly it is a somewhat unusual circumstances, had it been returned and the vendor had received it then PayPal would have refunded the monies already. In reality it has not got to the other end and you need to demonstrate to PayPal that is because of the fault of the vendor.GitaGr said:In this case PayPal has not given me any protection. They told me to send it back, which is exactly what I did.
If for example you'd sent it back and it had gotten lost by the courier then PayPal would have found in favour of the vendor and instructed you to claim for the lost parcel from the courier (which is roughly what happened when someone tried to return an item to me)
I have now sent them a formal complaint with all the evidence, but I am not sure what to expect as their support has been non existent and you can't even call them anymore.0 -
It doesn't sound like DPD Local Online have any liability to you - they requested the information, it wasn't provided, so Customs destroyed it.GitaGr said:

Customs aren't under the control of DPD Local.0 -
They are required to provide the documentation and information which they still haven't. They can't just take the money, the parcel and take no responsibility. That makes no sense at all. Why would I pay them to never hear back or never see the product or receive the service?mattyprice4004 said:

No, they need certain information from the receiver to clear the parcel through customs.GitaGr said:
