iPhone SE 2020 ... any good ?
Hi chaps, feeling like a new mobile - I have an old iPhone 6 ... still works OK but no 'touch' id, should I hang on to it or look at the SE ? I can get one interest free on Amazon for £419 ... is it an extravagance ? I do fancy a better camera, the grandchildren need to be photographed constantly ... thanks to anyone taking the time.

It'll be a very worthwhile upgrade all round over an iPhone 6 - that has lost, or will soon lose, support from Apple, and the apps over time and unless you know of something the other iPhones do better, will be a very good phone and will be supported for a long time. Some people seem to complain about battery life, but it depends how you're using it, and what phone you had before.

The iPhone since the 5S have had Touch ID, are you sure what you have is a 6?0

My DH has just got one. It’s an upgrade from a Samsung which he’d had for 3years and was practically on life support! He pays £19 pm for unlimited calls and texts plus 1gb data with Virgin. The data allowance is plenty as he’s retired so using home WiFi mostly. It’s a very nice phone, a bit on the small size but I’m hankering after one now! My contract is up soon so we’ll see.0

OP,The iPhone SE v2 is indeed a very worthy upgrade from a 6, but have you considered the models with 'face ID' (iPhone X/XS/11 Pro)? Like many, I though I would hate it when I upgraded from an iPhone 6 to iPhone X (and then to XS) but wouldn't go back to touch ID. Yes, the X (or XS or 11 Pro) are slightly bigger than the 6 (and SE v2) but its doesn't take long to get used to it - certainly far more pocket friendly than the 'plus' models (IMHO).0 -
Until recently I had the iPhone 11 but have changed to the SE (2020) and it's been a good decision.
I know I've lost the larger screen, Night Mode and a handful of other features but compared to the original SE Apple have (seemingly) got it right this time.
In terms of the iPhone 11/11 Pro if OP went down that route they may be best to wait until the next generation are announced in the coming few weeks as I'd imagine most places will reduce prices somewhat to clear stock? It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
I've just bought one as a works phone. Compared to the older models I would say it's a very worthy update, though it's difficult to compare as my main phone is an iPhone 11 Pro.
The SE is small and compact, fast and efficient though the only downside I've noticed is that the battery is quite poor on it. Usually with my 11 I can get all day out of it, I seem to only get around 6 - 8 hours out of my SE using various apps and phone calls whilst at work. Whilst this is enough for my shifts at work, I don't feel it would be beneficial as my everyday phone personally.
But it does depend what you intend to use it for. I use my 11 for social media, banking, games, and everything else, so an SE isn't going to last me all day on that hand. Other than that, the SE is a very good device
