Split CC insurance claim due to company administration

Options
My first post, hello all,  Unfortunately I was informed on Friday 20th August that a company I had booked a mini holiday with (Floating festivals) has gone into administration, fortunately I had paid deposits and all my DD payments on my credit card but I suddenly remembered I switched CC in January for a better rate % rate and transferred the previous payments+balance onto my new CC and completed the last 25% of payments on my new CC. I today contacted my current CC provider and they we’re very helpful and advised to complete their online claim form for “disrupted travel” but there is nowhere on the form to put previous card payments/balance transfers that relate to the same claim. I wanted to gather advice from others that may have had the same issue before I contact my current CC provider for help/advice.
Thanks in advance for your help.

payments of the balance of your credit card is irrelevant, which card(s) did you use to pay Floating Festivals with? Was it just the original credit card or did you pay the deposit with one and the balance with the other?

If you are going down the S75 route then the credit card company is jointly and severally liable, you can claim the full amount from which ever card you used to pay Floating Festivals. If that is only the first card then its that company you need to make the claim from, the liability doesnt transfer with a blance transfer, if its both then you can claim the full amount from either.

The other option is a chargeback but for this you can only claim back the amount paid to Floating Festival from each card not the full balance. So if you paid 10% on card one, 20% on card two and the remaining 70% was a BACS transfer then you'd only get the 10% and 20% back from the respective two card companies... again liability doesnt transfer with the balance.
  • Just ask each card provider to refund (chargeback) their share and refund.
I'm guessing that you don't really mean a Direct Debit and you make instalment payments with the two cards?

Simple answer is anything on previous card is. You need to contact them to dispute.
    A balance transfer means nothing.
    Life in the slow lane
  • Thanks everyone for advice....very helpful.

Sandtree - Thanks that pretty much answered my question, that I will need to approach both CC providers (Santander/MBNA) to claim the amounts that were made to “Floating festivals” from each card, my previous CC was with Santander and approx 80% was paid on that card before I made a balance transfer and went with MBNA and paid the remaining 20%.

Dahj - Thanks for your comments, yes you are correct it was monthly instalments not direct debit payments with both cards.

Born_again - Thanks for your advice, I will start the process of contacting both previous and current CC providers.
