OP if you want concrete advice then that means paying for advice. But it's a basic breach of contract - not providing services as agreed under the consumer rights act.

If they can't perform the contract as agreed due to government restrictions then they could claim the contract is frustrated
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

I am not prepared to loose thousands of pounds when a date could be moved and I am literally willing to do whenever they can!
    How about January 2030

    Dear OP
See what your insrance says. The venue is only follwoing gov advice.
No one knows if we are getting round 2/3/4 etc hoping we get a vaccine soon
Why not go ahead with 30 or so people and do a large party when covid has gone or under control?
Your 200 odd guests, can they do any date like you can?
Who is to say that even with the 30 guests your area is not going into lockdown and
the police are now fining lockdown breachers.
Sleep on it, see what your ins says then either go ahead with a very small marrage and start you married life and
a big party later or just wait.
One of our children has a landmark birht we'd promised ourselvs a big party for him, no jest
about 400 people EG, all of my failmy friends, realitves etc same from OH's sides our childrens friends etc, Dil's family friends etc the numbers soon mount up - we were going to book a venue in Feb but we could see covid coming big time and put off -
we will now have a smaller do and the few k's we save we will gv our son a surprise present.

So, wait until you hear from the insurance and be aware of locksdowns could ruin your big day at the last mo
Whatever happens, I hope it works out for the ebst

  • Just so you know Sweetsand likes to make every post about them. It doesn’t matter that the situation they can always find a way. And they so in a way nobody can understand them (but that’s not due to the poor spelling/ grammar but jealousy). And also like to brag about their money/cars/status etc as well.
  • Hi we are in a similar situation, how are you progressing with the insurance claim?
