Expensive gas bills with Bulb - what could have happened?
Comments

Thanks guys for your comments.
- I haven't seen a small b in the viewing window, and I don't remember seeing one before, though of course I wasn't alert to it then.
- Yes, figures are in metric units of gas. Bulb has correctly interpreted that. The problem is not that they are charging me too much given these figures... the problem is that the figures are too large!
- Consumption is lower now. In summer 2018 I put in double glazing in parts of the house, and this may have helped save energy. All the same, I think it is much too high and given your comments, that confirms what I thought.
- I tried to complain at the time but let myself get fobbed off. But reading about Bulb's recent problems made me suspicious again, and I came back to it.
I have emailed Bulb and am waiting for a response.0 -
If the figures are correct, and Bulb are not converting them incorrectly, you cant really blame them for this. The problem will be in your house somewhere.0

You still haven't said what your current usage is...

The metric vs imperial debate was entirely a red herring, the problem has nothing to do with how Bulb are billing and everything to do with what the meter is reading...As has been suggested, start with a simple test with the gas off and see if the meter reading still increases.Do look for that little 'b' on the screen, but even if that is the problem it may not be there in warmer weather as the battery voltage tends to sag when cold and recovers when warm.Given how long this has been going on though I'm not sure if this one is going to be down to the battery...0

The meter is in his house, yes? So my original statement still stands 😉victor2 said:bradders1983 said:If the figures are correct, and Bulb are not converting them incorrectly, you cant really blame them for this. That rather depends on the house. Ours is outside.bradders1983 said:

I had the same meter and if the meter goes up with gas off obviously there is a problem but do note that sometimes my meter didnt go up even with the heating on. If its faulty it can be completely random !1

I didn't realise we were getting that pedantic. Sigh, I shall reword: the problem will be on his property somewhere, i.e absolutely nothing to do with Bulb or any other supplier. Is that OK? 😘RelievedSheff said:

The meter, if it turns out to be faulty, is not the OP's and is very much the responsibility of the supplier.bradders1983 said:

Not specifically a problem created by Bulb though, is it? On the evidence so far blaming them for all this is incorrect.Talldave said:
