When a resumption of holidays abroad were being spoken about, i read about no households getting split up, and spacing on aircrafts. What exactly is the situation at present. I am thinking of holidaying abroad later in the year, but  i have seen very little feedback, with regards to seating.

Check with the airline in question, as everyone will have their own policies.

If the plane is full the plane is full, nowhere to "space" people.  Essentially its BAU for airlines in this regard, with other measures being taken instead such as masks, disembarkation by row, asking permission to use the bathroom etc.

    Business As Usual.

They certainly are not limiting capacity like buses and trains are.
  • Who are you flying with?   If Budget airline book your seats just to be sure.   Ryan air in particular are more likely to seat randomly even though creating more space. Obviously they want people to book seats.   Although only going by what have been told.  Read of a couple on here complaining wife at front of plane, husband at back.   They hadn’t booked seats so had to accept albeit furiously stressing their opinions and whether Ryanair were in contravention of any laws re Covid.     Would be less stressful to just book them in first place I would say?

Which laws would these be? There are social distancing "guidelines", not laws. And as already said, airlines are quite happily filling up their planes and even the couple in this example could have easily ended up sat next to another person from another household anyway. If people don't like this with the mitigating procedures put into place (masks etc...), simply don't fly.

I usually use Jet2, but on the odd occasion TUI. So it will be one of those, and it will be a package.
  • Well yes exactly bradders.   That was my point. If you want to ensure you stick together then book seats!
