I've recently signed up to a vodafone MIFI advertised as upto 150mbps but in reality was only getting around 8, this morning it's 2.
I'm within my cooling off period so need to switch.
I'm in a new build and because it's an overhead area open reach have said they wont connect until a order is placed with a provider.
I did fancy the benefits of the MIFI, no hard line, no waiting for openreach but the speed is just a bit rubbish and i'm not in a rural area. What suggestions might others have for my situation. I was hoping they would roll out 5g near me soon but I think so far only EE have done this. Is there anything I am missing here? I am also in a virgin area but their prices seem eye watering for a not so heavy user such as myself.
Cheers

Virgin at 27 PCM incl line rental for new customers is looking good to me. If you believe the hype they tell you their network will be faster and more reliable. I am in an area with fibre, in fact the cabinet is just the other side of my wall.
    Anyone care to comment?

Not all Virgin media is full fibre, it's relatively recent that they have been rolling out FTTP, their network was traditionally hybrid copper coax/fibre. But regardless, they should be able to offer good speeds. The question is, what speed do you need, Virgin push their speed advantage but in realty most households don't need the speeds they offer. If you're happy with £27 per month then take it,otherwise look at an Openreach based provider and don't automatically be put off by lower speeds, many people are quite happy with ADSL speeds.

    Cheers,
I was happy with openreach (Vodafone) fixed line connection before but just was swayed by the underground option I suppose. Otherwise they have to put up 2 poles, 1 being right outside my place. Perhaps i'm overpaying by 10 PCM for the Virgin deal over 18months so 180.
I'd be hopeful in 18months we have 5g here and I could just swap to a MIFI connection with that
  • I live in SW London and recently moved from BT to Zen. Speed depends on where you live but Zen were very helpful in guiding me through the process. There is a helpline with a real human being on the other end, very revolutionary. Cost is £35 pcm for about 80 mbps. Very happy customer so far.
