I completely understand your post, but then read you are in your 20s so I think it might come down to not being in a job you like?
I've just given up my job, last day last week, to take time out from the rat race for several months, to do stuff I wouldn't usually get the chance too. Mam died of Covid19 in April and I've totally reevaluated my life. But I'm mid 40s and been working for the last 32years.  I have savings behind me and can do this.
In your case I think you need to find what it is you enjoy. Don't focus on others looking gloomy on their way to work, focus on yourself and what you want. Not necessarily today, but in the future and what you can aim for.
Thank you very much for your kind words and advice. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Being blunt the problem is you.  Do you have the drive to change that?  There are lots of hours you aren't in work - what are you doing to improve your prospects?  It is easier said than done, but certainly not impossible so change your focus from a negative outlook on your current situation to a positive one with what you are going to do with your life - you are deciding on a 9-5 position, no-one is forcing you and there are plenty of other options if you have the drive.  You're already half way there - you have a secure role so you have freedom outside that to experiment, train, research etc.
  • Hello Yes I used to have the drive to change this pattern however has declined as the months go by, I soon realised that it is actually harder than you think to change such patterns.  It is kind of like this life thats created for everyone and to change its hard and even if I do try and change this,  the alternative would be what ?  the alternative is un stability - why not chose a life that is comfortable and flows?   However I do have hope, hope that I can see the light or an opportunity will come that would be much suited for me.  I watched the Truman show today and it interesting that it describes the life I am trying to explain here.

interpretation of the Movie...from an Essay.....

prototypical adolescent at the beginning of the movie. He feels trapped into a familial and social world to which he tries to conform while being unable to entirely identify with it, believing that he has no other choice (other than through the fantasy of fleeing to a far-way island). Eventually, Truman gains sufficient awareness of his condition to "leave home"—developing a more mature and authentic identity as an adult, leaving his child-self behind and becoming a True-man.

I just wonder why Truman never noticed that the clouds in the distance never ever moved... because they were painted on the walls. At least he had the sense to ditch the bunny boiler...

But I digress. All I can say is that 20 years of fairly mind numbing but extremely well paid work means that I can give it all up any time I want*. Which is definitely worth something...

I just want to ask everyone,  is everyone thinking the same thing as me but just getting on with it because they have to?  is a job something you have to like?  is a job just a job for earning money?  in addition, my job doesn't have a lot of social interaction ? maybe this is why

but to tell you the truth I am just everyday thinking of an exit plan but the exit plan is not yet to be seen... I just need to figure something out because this cant be it, it just can't

You're in your 20s but sound as if you have a lot of growing up to do. Instead of hoping things will magically come right with limited effort on your part, direct your energies towards finding something you will enjoy doing. Much more constructive than posting anguished rants here (spoiler alert: doing so won't improve things for you).
