Yep, agree with above.  It is a Lloyds Bank sort code.   So, the US bank should be negotiating payment with Lloyds Bank.

I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

Is it worth going into Bank of America and seeing if they will help....while Lloyd's acquired them in UK - Bank of America did stateside.  Have you spoken to MBNA in UK....

  • Thank you for your response.   I went back to my bank today and gave them the information re Lloyd's bank.  They called western union and were told that initially when I deposited the cheque,  western union tried to sell the cheque to 3 different sources,  they all rejected it saying that they thought it was fraudulent and too little information on it.  I explained that wu should be negotiating with Lloyd's but wu are still refusing to take the cheque.   We spoke with mbna in the uk,  they basically said too bad,  that's our standard cheque.
I have been advised to raise a complaint with the ombudsman but not sure if that is the right path.   I thought of calling Lloyd's in the uk to see if they were willing to help.
I have no idea where to go from here.
