Default on account

Options
Hello
5 years ago barclaycard agreed to a repayment plan whilst I was on maternity leave. At the end of the plan I had to replay the balance in full so that it cleared the account, however as I was on zero pay I was unable to by the deadline. Fortunately family helped me out and I paid the balance but around a few weeks after the deadline, but Barclaycard had already added a default on my account which should end next July 2021. I’m trying to find out if there is a process to get it removed early considering the balance was paid in full just after the deadline. Am I able to pay to get it removed? I can’t get in contact with them as phone lines so busy (been on hold over an hour and it cuts out).

any advice gratefully received.

Many thanks

You can write and ask them, however a single default from nearly 6 years ago isn't the end of the world.

You can't get a default removed just because you pay it. Your credit file is a factual historic record. The facts are that at that time you defaulted. Even though you paid it later you still defaulted at the time. You cannot pay anyone to make it magically go away. If we can make credit record entries go away just by paying someone then it makes the whole purpose of a credit record pointless as it's entire purpose is to give a historic accurate view of the way you handle your finances to allow lenders who are risking their money to come to a decision.
