Regret, bought a mattress from the “Benson for beds” , homeserve inspected

Big brands ,
 warranty
 don’t fall for these.
I bought a mattress with the confidence that they are well known brand and specialist they will value their customers if incase anything goes wrong. And the peace of mind that this has got 5 years warranty. So after months it started developing dip , we were in pain and aches thought will get better but by the time it goes bad I got busy with welcoming newborn. So couldn’t contact Benson for beds but when I contact them they said it’s over a year it has to be inspected by third party ‘homeserve’. I had to pay for that and I was confident that it does have 1.5 inch dip because I measured the way relevant people suggest to do it. They inspected with their own standard which is ridiculous that the thread gets pressed in the foam and take some cm and measuring with their own chart next to thread instead of using measuring tape. After all that the inspector suggests me that don’t sleep where the dips are , sleep in the middle or else
WOW never knew that ,
so I should kick off my partner because the only place left is for one person “IN THE MIDDLE”
Never heard that mattress has problem within a year or two and can’t ask them, what are these warranties are for ?
It was shocking they have set their standards and rules that dip has to be 1.5 inch or more , does anybody think that even if it’s 1 inch dip can anyone sleep in that dip peacefully ? And what standards “within tolerance” .
WHO is tolerating ? CUSTOMER
Paying big amount for mattress , then sleeping no more comfortable, got to know the strange warranty rules , have to Pay more for inspection ,  and at the end the result is “ it is tolerable”
SUPER ! “Benson for beds”
Please suggests me what should I do, if someone had the same issue?
And anybody knows the contact details of the authorities who set these furniture standards?

  • Leaving it 12 months before action wasn't going to get a particularly favourable outcome and having a newborn doesn't stand as a reasonable justification for the time delay.
Due diligence on a costly item, like this, would have given you reviews to go by so you could make up your own minds, all after the fact now though.
I think you'll probably have to bite the bullet and either live with it or get a new bed.

You could go down the Consumer Rights route . Not fit for purpose etc .
Requires an inspection you pay for initially and probably the same outcome as above .
  • Newborn isn’t the justification , the purpose of that was why it took me long to contact them, even though the problem appeared within a year. I am the person who always consider the reviews But there was no reviews for that particular mattress.
