There are many things I dislike about that laptop: Windows 10S, only 4GB of RAM, only 128GB SSD, 14" screen with 1366 x 768p resolution. I don't do AMD Athlons, but I suspect it is not a powerful CPU.
However, the most disappointing thing is that you are intending to buy from Currys / PC World...

If you can suggest any alternative I'm open to suggestions. I have no idea when it comes to technology 😢

It's depressing that this is still a thing in 2020.

If you do have to buy from currys the best time is black friday .
Last year £399 got a AcerAspire  ryzen 5, 1080 screen, 8 ram, 256ssd.... people are selling the same laptop on ebay for the same or more months later I saw a used one go for 385.
Personally I would consider a older  refurbed Lenovo  i5 14inch and forget a shiny low spec budget shopping experience with Currys .
Because they are overpriced and will lead you up the garden path .
If you not up to speed on tech  they will know and up sell you the kitchen sink to go with the very low spec over priced laptop .
I have been browsing the itzoo site but plenty of other refurb sites  exist
If possible try and get a tech person/friend to help you out with a purchase someone with your interests at heart .

The Windows 10 S isn't necessarily a deal breaker, its easy to convert it to full Windows 10.

The Athlon Silver 3050U is a ultra cheap low-budget low power usage dual-core processor.  The only thing really going for it is that the hardware dates from this calendar year, but that aside low power AMD laptop processors are cheap for a reason, and that's usually because their primary aim is power saving.  Nothing else.  The SSD and the DDR4 will be faster than the processor, but the processor will be the bottleneck.

Indeed - I said it was one of the many things I disliked about that laptop.  It's Yet Another Hassle to contend with...

Right, I'll take your advice and give this a miss. I don't have any techie friends to advise me, so if any one here can point me in the direction of a good laptop I'd be very grateful.

I would find 3-4 possible options ie. a short list .
Your asking for a personal shopper that has no budget or your personal tech requirements .
Probably john lewis could help .
Im not saying its easy as I spent ages but thats required otherwise you end up buying twice.
Hence buying a refurb until you know more is one option but it wont look shiny or impress or fore fill a shopping experience need
