Thank you for those comforting words. They are a great help to me. I keep telling myself we aren't that unique, this process has been going on for hundreds of years!
The agent hopefully will keep the purchasers of our house in the loop and hopefully they are in a slightly laid back FTB position either living with family or renting that they don't mind extending month by month as we were when we initially purchased.
I have only been looking at Rightmove for houses, I will keep a watch on our local FB group as well ☺️

@TheProfessional we are hopefully just nearing exchange and completion and it's so easy to forget what a hugely emotive process all of this is. It's easy to say we will all take it in our stride but it feels like such a rollercoaster of emotions literally from day one of approaching an estate agent that it's easy to get lost in it all. I feel like I've been on tenterhooks since the middle of June and at points it's taken more of a toll than it should have. I think even more so when you are trying to move for a 'forever' home or at least something you really love. I found our first couple of purchases were the 'sensible' choices and what we needed to move up the ladder / schools etc but trying to get something you really love is even harder! x0

We are in NW too and we had a similar problem. Finding a house in the right areas was hard. Not much came up. When it did it went within a day or two. Even if you got in for a viewing you ended up outbid. It’s stressful. But eventually you get a break. I’d say decide what you can compromise on. Area, house size, layout, finish, price, garden etc and then look at compromises. Perfect house in those price brackets are competitive and therefore good to look at something that has a flaw somewhere as might mean you see a way to make it work and get it with less competition and maybe cheaper..,0
