New job and childcare

Options
Hi
I am due to begin training for a new job in 3 weeks having been made redundant in May due to the  coronavirus. My child currently attends nursery for the free hours two days a week and will increase to 5 days to cover my work.
I need to pay the month upfront which is around £510 before he begins his increased hours in three weeks.
Having never been on any sort of benefit before im unsure of one when do I update than I am working and 2 when do I apply for the payment for the month I need to pay upfront for him to begin the full days?
I understand I need to pay it upfront, do I just pay it then send the receipt stating ill be beginning within the next few weeks. I need to do a week training before beginning my post.

Thanks

You report the changes when you start working.
For childcare, it was fully explained in your previous thread by calcotti... https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6172453/universal-credit-and-childcare/p2
There's also links in the thread, have another read.

  • Man you lot are a kind bunch... thanks
I didn't understand whether they will pay the childcare before I begin if I haven't posted a start date as I am waiting to hear if its in 3 weeks or 4 I begin work so don't have confirmed start date however I need to pay his nursery fees in advance and give 3 weeks notice to change and increase his days.

They won't pay the chioldcare until you start working and then it's paid in arrears, which was explained in your previous thread.

Yup we are kind. Not only did Calcotti kindly give you information in another post, but Poppy kindly remembered that you’d been given the information and kindly reminded you of that when you forgot!
