there is no law forbidding an adult texting a 16 year old -- otherwise a parent wouldn't be able to text their child
you certainly need to provide slightly more info/context1 -

Dear OP
Are you able to share some background to this and then I will be in a better position to help, possibly
x
If you wish and to make my op on this thread clear, I would find it helpful if you wish with the following info.
How old is the adult.
Is the person step, parent, sibling, aunt/uncle/grandparetn/stranger/etc.
How long have they know this person if they are a stranger.
I am safely assuming your 16 year old is as intelligent and has capacity as the next 16 year old.
What is the nature of the calls/texts.
A bit on the history
All of the above will then direct me and others to give you detailed advice re your options.
however, should you not wish to disclose, that is indeed your chocie
To be clear, the above content is no way mean to undermine what your concerns are but important bits of info we need.
Either way, I will you luck and this may not halp but many 16 year olds think they know what is best for them but they don't.

Definitely not the OP.

The OP won't return. £100 on it, please Mr Hill.8

As others have said, it totally depends on the context. Is it a 30 year old being sexually inappropriate with a 16 year old, or a 16 year old who has a dodgy friend who is 18?! During lockdown my 14 year old received texts from teachers regarding school work. It's not the age that's the issue, it's what's being said.1
