there is no law forbidding an adult texting a 16 year old -- otherwise a parent wouldn't be able to text their child
you certainly need to provide slightly more info/context

What people need is more inforamtion before answering this question as it is very complex so for the time being I will pass on that

    Dear OP
Are you able to share some background to this and then I will be in a better position to help, possibly

    Dear OP
If you wish and to make my op on this thread clear, I would find it helpful if you wish with the following info.

    How old is the adult.
Is the person step, parent, sibling, aunt/uncle/grandparetn/stranger/etc.
How long have they know this person if they are a stranger.
I am safely assuming your 16 year old is as intelligent and has capacity as the next 16 year old.
What is the nature of the calls/texts.
    A bit on the history

All of the above will then direct me and others to give you detailed advice re your options.

however, should you not wish to disclose, that is indeed your chocie

To be clear, the above content is no way mean to undermine what your concerns are but important bits of info we need.
Either way, I will you luck and this may not halp but many 16 year olds think they know what is best for them but they don't.

OP - are you the 16 year old?   Are you worried about the messages that you are receiving?    Or are you the parent of the 16year old?   Have you been looking at the messages with or without the knowledge of the 16 year old?   the advice given would depend upon the situation.

    Definitely not the OP.

As others have said, it totally depends on the context. Is it a 30 year old being sexually inappropriate with a 16 year old, or a 16 year old who has a dodgy friend who is 18?!  During lockdown my 14 year old received texts from teachers regarding school work. It's not the age that's the issue, it's what's being said.

The OP won't return. £100 on it, please Mr Hill.
Why do you constantly take threads totally OT and undermine the OP every time?

We can't really say until there is more info.
