Mortgage Co hasn't added my mortgage to my credit file

Irrelevant. They don’t see it. Or care about it.MC0NN said:
Yes, I was referring to the CRA's score/rating, which I thought played a crucial part in mortgage company decision-making. Is this not the case?D3xt3r5L4b said:Have you checked all 3 of your credit files?
What do you mean by "Credit file is good on some and fair in others, so I have been trying to improve it" - i do hope you're not referring to the CRA's score/rating on you, since that is irrelvant to anything.0 -
Does making sure you have enough money transferred in time to another account constitute towards any of this?MC0NN said:
I thought being able to demonstrate that I'm a home owner with a good track record of making all mortgage payments was something to get worked up over, but thank you for your comment.SpreadableToast said:
Right, because they won't bother looking at the data they hold on you and will just look at your credit files...MC0NN said:Ironically/frustratingly, they have confirmed that not having their mortgage on my file may impact on their decision to approve a new mortgage from them.
You were speaking to an idiot, it happens but nothing to get worked up over.0 -
Which credit file? Lenders report to different agencies.MC0NN said:My 2 year fixed term mortgag with HSBC ends this month. HSBC has failed to add the mortgage to my credit file. Credit file is good on some and fair in others, so I have been trying to improve it by getting HSBC to amend my record. Been trying since June and despite many phone calls and emails, they have 2 months later, still not added it. Ironically/frustratingly, they have confirmed that not having their mortgage on my file may impact on their decision to approve a new mortgage from them. I am running out if time to get a good deal. At their suggestion, I have triggered the complaints process but found this adds another layer of beurocracy and delay. They reply in an ad-hoc way, if at all. They are really pleasant but ineffectual, and my deadline for renewing is less than 2 weeks away. Any advice? Similar experiences?

You missed the point I was making. If you remortgage with HSBC the fact that it's not on your credit files is irrelevant. They can see you've got a mortgage and you're paying it because your mortgage is with them so you're getting worked up over nothing because as long as you only wish to remortgage with them it not being reported doesn't matter.MC0NN said:

Really wish I had found this forum before - I've lost sleep over this and decided not to move house. Three HSBC staff members said they wouldn't apply without the mortgage on their file. Really hard to know what to do when their own staff say that sort of thing.SpreadableToast said:

I have the same problem! I’ve had my Barclays mortgage for 24years with excellent record of repayment yet it’s not shown on my credit report!
Barclays say that at the time of taking out the mortgage they didn’t share information with credit agencies and the only thing I can do is to take out a new mortgage for it to be added or miss a payment as it’ll be added then! Completely nutsI think the only way around it is to get your unblemished record in writing from your existing lender to show to any new lender!
Thats what I intend to do as I’ve found no other way.

Generally, accounts that are not reported because they pre-date the Data Protection Act can be reported if you sign something to give them permission to do this. I'd be surprised if Barclays doesn't offer this, although perhaps the person you spoke to was unaware of it. If it was a general customer services operator then all I can say is they often don't have the best training.mydogberyl said:I have the same problem!
