I use a number that is in my wife's name, I wish to switch providers from 3 to sky due to signal issues here in the sticks, can I get a PAC code and give it to sky, will there be an issue as the name on current number is my wife and the new contract with sky is in my name?

PAC's aren't linked to customer names, you'll have no problems.
  • PACs definetly are linked to account holders, you need to provide security information to each provider. Your wife needs to pass security with three and get the PAC and you can then give that PAC to sky.

Rubbish.  It is all done by text message with no "security"  required. The old SIM asks for a PAC, the new SIM sends the PAC, number moves over - as simple as that.

You have no problems I used plenty other names purchased a gold mobile number on ebay number of times once arrive activated went onto live chat requested a PAC under a different name when filling out the form eg like o2 and three.

The only reason I use live chat to obtain a PAC code is to avoid topping up £10 many networks require a topup on the account before they allow you to send a text message.

Had no problems transferring the nunber over.

  • Security needs to be done when obtaining a PAC when calling the call centre, with vodafone you need to provide your security PIN when texting for a PAC

Yes they text you a 4 digit code with three they ask for your last 6 digits on your sim card.
3 network probably the easiest to obtain a PAC code on payandgo without having credit o2/vodafone getting very tough had to complain on twitter a few times explaining to them no point me topping up £10 to send one text message they usually give in and let you have a pac code for free.

Which has nothing whatsoever to do with changing the "owner" of the number when moving networks.

Three ask for date of birth in the xx/xx/xx format, not SIM card number.
