My phone is a Motorolla G7 Power, so I think that has NFC - it is quite a new model.

I don’t think UK version of G7 power is nfc enabled but you can double check this by going to connected devices from settings menu. If the phone is nfc enabled you will see a slider to switch this feature on and off. If your phone doesn’t support this feature it will be greyed out on the menu screen. You would still have the same protection as when using the physical card when paying via Gpay. I should have explained that more clearly in the earlier post. I meant that the physical process of making a payment online is similar to doing so using PayPal but because Gpay is just a “payment wallet” you would still have the same legal protection as when you use the physical card.0

I don't seem to have NFC. There is something called "nearby share" but I think that is something different.0

Carphone Warehouse's website shows two variants of the Motorola G7, the "Plus" variant which has NFC and the "Play" variant which doesn't appear to have NFC:

I have now confirmed my phone does not have NFC, so the Google Pay with Aqua card is not an option.
Aqua said I cannot have a contactless card from them.
Aqua does not seem to support Garmin Pay (which I can use with my watch).
I did the eligibility checker for another card provider that offers contactless, but got the 100% most definitely not eligible.
I have been looking at some options that might allow me to use contactless with the Aqua card. I think I found a solution, except it is a bit tortuous, once it is set up I guess it would be fine:- Get a Curve card (blue) with no fee
- Link the Aqua card to the curve card
- Link the curve card to the Garmin Pay
- Use Garmin Pay from the watch as phone does not have NFC.
Am I correct it would not cost me anything to do this?
Are there any pitfalls I need to be aware of in this plan?
Is the curve card a real card, or just via phone app? Android.0
