I don't think it's weird and creepy to sit in your own garden. I do it quite regularly. I can hear the next door neighbours and their visitors clearly but I'm reading a book and making no noise.
However, the rest just sounds like they think they're entitled to do what they like and they have 'power' over the rest of the neighbours.
Yes I get what you are saying re sitting in the garden - maybe because of the rest of their behaviour, I find it unsettling thinking they are listening in on my conversations when I don't know they are there.
Spot on about the 'power' comment - they like to remind everyone they have been there since the houses were built so it does seem they feel they can do as they please, which to be honest - they do!

haha!!! i'd love to, however I have a life - which they clearly don't :) and besides, no one gets chance to park in either of their spaces because of the military precision they manoeuvre the vehicles each time one of the has to go out!!

    I get this completely.

We've got new neighbours who thankfully are lovely, but when i'm in the garden and I know they are too or they are inside but the windows are open i'm very conscious of them being there even though they are purely minding their own business, so I can't imagine how it feels knowing they're purposely listening or even worse, not actually knowing they're there.

Some people unfortunately aren't as unbothered as you @-taff that they will keep themselves quiet and take no notice, if these neighbours of yours OP are actually nasty people i'd dread to think what they could try to be listening for, people like them twist words and cause a drama out of anything, if you're up for a bit of fun pull a Colleen Rooney and plant a fake story about another neighbour (with their knowledge obviously) when you know they're listening and see how long it takes to get back to you  :D then you have your proof that they're nosy buggers!

Is the derelict car parked on private property or is it a public road?  If it is a road, it needs road tax and insurance and the like, and even private property may have some restrictions about abandoned vehicles...
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

i'll be sure to 'talk' in the garden about the new buyers who have 4 large dogs and 5 boistrous kids once i'm ready to move out - just to make them fret for a while about how bad it would be to have proper loud neighbours!
Its not even so much that they are nosy - no one else in the close really speaks too much to them as they are all wary of them :( they are just odd and very sad/petty!

its in a public car park - I have checked and it is taxed and MOT'd - can you believe they have actually spent money buying  a car, taxing, MOT'ing it, and no doubt insuring it - just to 'reserve' their parking space, bonkers!!
  • I wouldn't worry about it and just concentrate on sorting out your new house, whether you buy one or rent again. The beauty of renting is you can just up sticks and leave, you don't need to declare any problems as that's the landlord's problem because it's their house.

The landlord might not even sell, they might just move in new tenants or sell it to another landlord who will just move in tenants. Neither of them will be bothered about the neighbours as they won't be living there. You might also have moved before anyone comes to view it, but if there is a viewing while you're there you can tell them what you like. If they don't buy the house because of the neighbours, someone will view it after you've gone and buy it anyway without knowing (if the landlord hasn't mentioned it).
