Renew driving license online - says need a valid passport, is valid!

That's interesting to know. Fortunately my passport was last updated in 2015 so hopefully I won't have that issue when I need to renew my photocard driving licence.

I have the new style license, I have a valid passport (less than 2 years old, expires 2028), I know I need to update the photo - that's what I am trying to do but after entering all the required details I'm told "Sorry you cannot continue with your online application. Your licence is no longer valid and must be renewed. To do this the photo on your licence must be changed.It has not been possible to use your passport photo on your driving licence as DVLA must be able to confirm your identity online and your UK passport must be valid." Thing is I know it has expired, I know it must be renewed, that is the process I have followed to do this, and I know my passport is valid. Yep, cleared cookies but no joy

This also happened to me when I needed to update my licence after we moved.  I had to send in a paper application (which took a very long time to be processed).  If you do this, make sure you keep copies of everything.

Now that notifications seem to be working .... this thread popped up. For info, renewing my driving licence online, using my 2015 passport photo, all worked fine.
