Renew driving license online - says need a valid passport, is valid!

I'm trying to renew my driving license online, needs a new photo and so have entered all the details for renewal, License number, national insurance number etc and also Passport number (which is less than 2 years old and is a 10 year passport) when i get to the end it tells me I need to renew my license and need a valid passport - what am I doing wrong?? Going round in circles

End message:

Sorry you cannot continue with your online application.

Your licence is no longer valid and must be renewed. To do this the photo on your licence must be changed.

It has not been possible to use your passport photo on your driving licence as DVLA must be able to confirm your identity online and your UK passport must be valid.

Typo in one of the details you've entered, especially the passport number?

e.g. you've not misread a 0 as an 8 (or vice versa), or transposed 2 digits?

Could be a typo - clear cookies and try again and you will need a new digital photo as per their criteria. You will also need the
the newr style drivers licence ie the small card with pic on

I've tried it so many times, it's soul destroying! I even had my partner try as I read the numbers out just in case! Thanks though

What do you mean by "check the photo"? The OP is trying to use their passport photo for their replacement/updated photocard driving licence. (I'll have this joyful experience to look forward to in 3 years time).

I have the new style license, I have a valid passport (less than 2 years old, expires 2028), I know I need to update the photo - that's what I am trying to do but after entering all the required details I'm told "Sorry you cannot continue with your online application. Your licence is no longer valid and must be renewed. Thing is I know it has expired, I know it must be renewed, that is the process I have followed to do this, and I know my passport is valid. Yep, cleared cookies but no joy

HI, im just wondering how you resolved this issue?  This is happening to me now.

There is another post about this today, apparently it all to do with new passports from 2019 not working.

HI, im just wondering how you resolved this issue?  This is happening to me now.
