Insurance for 17 year old

I tried TPFT but it was actually more expensive than Fully Comp (sorry never twigged that FC meant Fully Comp). I also tried £1000 excess but that only brings the price down by £20 so false economy. I will try some other cars to see what prices we get but I think he is happy with a Fiat 500 in a "non feminine" colour - I might wrap it pink to shock him!0

I think that's why the insurance may be lower ... it's seen as "a girl's car" so he's less likely to rag it and get into trouble (in their eyes).0 -
No they're not, it was only a few years ago. Insurance where we live is cheap as it's one of the lowest areas for crime in the country. I'm paying just £130 fully comp with just 3 years NCB on my MX5 2.0 Sport and £178 on my 2019 Ford Focus.foxy-stoat said:These days are long gone.
17 year old in a Corsa 1.3 diesel, no ncd, licence for less than a year, unemployed, £1700
Same details on a 2.0 Ford Mondeo diesel auto = £4700
I am pretty sure you can drive a 2.0 Mondeo faster than a 1.3 Corsa so the risk would be higher, not because more young first timers tend to buy Fiestas than Mondeos.

If the Fiat 500 is a bit 'girly' try a Panda or Punto as they're similar cars mechanically and even newish ones can be picked up cheaply. They're all getting a bit long in the tooth and liable to niggles but they generally rumble along well, withstand a fair bit of new driver abuse and very cheap to repair.0

You seem to have some real problems with reading comprehension. May I suggest you enrole at an adult literacy class?onlyfoolsandparking said:So your paying £130 and £178 insurance AND YOUR 17!!! fantasticAt no point did I say the above anywhere.0 -

Maybe you could enrol in a sarcasm etiquette class, I'll have a look if one is available when I attend my adult literacy class,DoaM said:And someone seems to have had a sense of humour bypass ... and also failed to spot the sarcasm in my reply. 🙄
