Nat West £175 switch offer April 2019

I took up the Nat West switch offer in April 2019 which promised £125 in August 2019, which I received, and then £50 a year later if the card was used every month until June 2020. I haven't received the £50, but did use the card at least once a month. Has anyone else received the money?

It should have been paid by 30th June. There don't appear to have been complaints from others about not having received the 2nd part of the incentive.
  • Thanks. Yes this is the offer, but I hadn't seen the 30th June date before. I'll have to ring them and find out what they mean by use, because one month I just used the cash machine to withdraw money, so perhaps I had to use it in a shop

You had to spend on your card at least once a month, then you would have received the extra £50.

The exact wording is "(c) before 1 June 2020, use your debit card linked to your existing eligible current account at least once per month."
use is sufficiently ambiguous that it could be reasonably misinterpreted. I'm sure it was intended to mean 'spend on', but people do 'use' their debit card to take out cash at an ATM. Perhaps there was some accompanying information that explained exactly what constituted 'use' of a debit card, or what was specifically excluded?

I received a text on 16 June saying that as I had used my debit card at least once a month up to 1/03, I would receive £50 by 30/06. I received the £50 on 24th June.

You can search on the app or in online banking for all debit card payments from April 2019 to May 2020. If you have used your debit card in each of these months, you should have received the £50.

It is possible that April and May 2020 are not essential but if you missed any of the earlier months you would not be entitled to the £50.
