Hi everyone!
It has been a while since I did an update and on my last post I was unwell and was waiting for Covid test. Luckily we were negative and gone back working in the office again.
In regards with the soil that we we dug up from the driveway we managed to get rid of it without spending a penny to get it removed. As @Coffeekup suggested we used it to level of a portion of our garden as it was lower than the rest of the garden and now it looks lovely!
That is done for the outdoor project this year and we are planning to do the front next spring as we are now doing projects indoor. We have now fully re-decorated all three bedrooms, just waiting for the central heating to be installed on Dec 8th and 9th then we will re-decorate the kitchen. We are planning to buy few kitchen cupboards in Ikea then we will try to install it ourselves, next is installing more power switch in all rooms as the house has a very limited sockets ( one each per room!).
Once that is finished we will rip the carpets throughout the house as it's very dated and planning to buy a bamboo flooring and install it ourselves to save money.
I hope we can pull this off too like we did in our outdoor projects - fingers crossed!
Anyway despite of the pandemic I am very pleased to say that we still able to overpay £500 per month and I am very happy to see the mortgage account gets updated quite regularly and seeing the mortgage term reduced which gives us the motivation to continue overpaying.save for the rainy days1 -
It is now less than a week before Christmas and yet we are still renovating. We have bought Venezia flooring (enough to cover the whole house) at Wickes which was heavily discounted, and as I type this we have already done 3 bedrooms ourselves and very pleased with the result knowing for the fact that we have never done it before. Next to do is our lounge, hallway and lastly the kitchen. Hopefully flooring will be done before Christmas then we can concentrate renovating the kitchen early next year.
As for our overpayments we are still on track, even though my husband lost his job last month we still managed to overpay but I am very positive he will get a job early next month in the company I currently work for.
Hope everything is going well with you all!save for the rainy days1 -
It has been a while since I did my last update.
Last week I invited 3 estate agents to re-value our house as my 2 years fixed is nearing to it's end. Our bank says If I don't get the value I am expecting/hoping for then I can challenge it by submitting a valuation from estate agents as well as proof of sold prices in our area. I am only hoping to get a valuation of 250,000 to hit the 60 LTV to unlock lower interest rate than what I currently have. Fortunately, the value of our house surpassed my expectation as it is valued from 270-280k and the estate agents said I can easily ask for 260k valuation figures from our bank.
I would be very happy if the bank agrees on 260k as that would mean the value of our house increased by 73k and all the hard work we put in towards our house really paid off.
