Lovely to read you are now in your forever home and already doing so many improvements. Which I have to say look very professional.
Hope you don't mind asking as I am doing the garden at present and need a new fence at the back - did you concrete the bottom part of the fence then use the wood? can you tell me who you used on Y0utub3 - I would like to watch and see if my skills are up to a part of it at least. After my artifical grass was down I said - should have done the path first. Grrr.
My top tip is to round down your mortgage to 00's once the payment has been taken every month - it really helps.
Please see the below link for DIY fencing.https://youtu.be/NMxH7aSFvDk
What we did in fencing was dig 2 metres, slot the concrete post, then pour postconcrete mix add some water and steady it with wood. Dig for the next post then slot the first gravel board into your first post, once the gravel board is in slot the first wooden panel then put your second concrete post on the second hole you dug then pour concrete mix and repeat process. That was how we did our fence and I found it easier.
I did not quite understand your suggestion on the last paragraph, can you please elaborate it?
Thanks

Thanks for that, just watched it, got to say your wooden panels are so so much nicer
, that's what caught my eye in your photo.
Sorry I didn't explain right, you are already o/p a large amount, but my tip just means pushing that little bit further.
Your mortgage is say - £161.232.00 and you pay £682.41 and o/p is £500 which leaves a balance of £160049.59 (not taking into account the interest that would be added on) so my challenge would be to find either £9.59 or £49.59 to make your balance either £160040.00 or £160000.00 - a nice round sum. Then of course I might be tempted to pay £1 and your into the £159's.
but you would need to know what interest would be added on then make your own three or four figure o/p £??.??
Hope I explained it right, I actually felt better o/p that wee sum, rather than my mortgage payment.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.191 -
just stopping in to say hello and good luck on your MF journey. I agree about learning to do trade jobs yourself. I have picked up loads of new skills since owning a house. We rarely ever use anyone to do jobs for us. It's really rewarding to look at a job and have the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself too. Your driveway looks ace.MFW #69 Mortgage remaining Jan 2021 £221,644; Jan OP £1000;1

Looking good. And agree wholeheartedly. DH is an electrician plus he's very handy and loves a challenge. We put up a back privacy fence and a front picket fence ourselves and will also be pouring a driveway soon, although he'll have help from his construction bud on that one. I can't imagine how much we've saved over the years, but it has to be a lot. Plus don't you love the satisfaction of seeing your home come together the way you like it and feeling pride of ownership? Priceless.Mortgage start date Dec 2015 - $64,655.00
Mortgage end date Dec 2045 - NOT!!!!
Mortgage balance - $4600.00
Business Savings $43,310/100k
Hope to be mortgage-free by end of 20232 -
