Three - Shady practice?
I'm assuming straight away people will say its just business, not happy with it, goes to another provider. But I'm just curious.
I've been with Three for well over 10 years so loyal (or lazy). I was on a really old tariff, one I'd never bothered to change so it was on an overpriced tariff for what I got. I was well out of contract. Had been out of contract for well over 5 years, just too lazy to sort it as I couldn't stand the sales bull. Never got a letter during those times to tell me the they are moving me because my plan no longer exists. Could this be because it was a high monthly payment? I wonder.
I finally decided to change a few years back and was on £18 a month, 30GB data unlimited txt and phone calls. Fine. Then came to renewal and they were going to put it up. I argued I'd been with them so long, I'll stay if they give me the same tariff, same monthly rate. They agreed. It didn't go through, they claim the next day they had technical difficults so now they'll do the same deal for £15 a month. Fine by me. Stayed on that for a year, over that year it went up about 50p. Now finally reached £15.79 for whatever bull they claim but I've been out of contract for several months now. They never said price was increasing etc so have left it.
Now get an e-mail saying they are no longer providing the tariff and I have to pick a new one. Funny that because one of the options is EXACTLY the same plan but in a force 24 month contract and 21p more than what I'm paying now.
So their tactic appears "We have a loyal customer who is paying over the odds. We'll just not mention to him he could get a better, cheaper tariff as he'll clearly continue to pay more over the years cause he's a lazy idiot.". Then someone notices I've changed and they then appear to think "We have a very loyal customer here but he's actually on a decent plan but not paying very much. Lets tell him the plan has come to an end, he's out of contract so we can force him onto a more expensive plan".
Knobs.

It's nothing new this happens all the time Every year most people plains go up by so much normally around 2%
Also they do shut down old Tariffs they do that all the time.
My advice is if you are not happy then move to another provider but to be honest they are all the same when it comes to loyalty
it's a bit hit and miss who you get on the end of the phone with custom service some will offer you everything and some nothing.
I have been with Three years on and off.
I will give you an example over christmas period i cancelled my Three contract and went over to ID mobile which runs on Three. After a month i moved again to Smarty mobile which is owed by Three and is like Payg they just take so much each month from you on a credit or debit card for your Tariff but you can leave when you like No giving Notice.
I then see a really good deal with Three and moved back to them so now i am on Unlimited Everything for £11mth.
And all that without even speaking to a person all done by text.
So the moral of the story is look about if you want good low price Tariffs and move if not happy.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.1 -
Spoke to them, well did the online chat actually. Said as I've been with them for over 10 years, surely they can do a deal. Magically the plan was now available to me still and they could drop it from £15.79 a month to £10 a month including a £5 discount for a 12 month contract on exactly the same plan.Goes to show, and I guess we all know, the plan was never ending its just a way to catch people out who don't see the e-mail or forget to sort out a new contract.1

So you done deals where you get the mobile included? I just used my own phone but asked about a new phone as I haven't claimed in years. But they then said the fees would change and from what I could tell would be more money so I said no thanks.Whats annoying me now is their USELESS app on Android. They sent me a replacement sim which I don't need. They said on chat it was only in case you needed it, you don't have to use it. The app tries to control phone calls and location when it requires neither too work. Then it will randomly say the sim is different and try to set itself up all over again and fails. Then the next day it will be working fine. Its got really poor ratings in the app store yet they still having sorted it.0
