URGENT Son asked for PUK code and used it but did not realise it would cancel contract any way back?
My son had a contract with EE which he wanted to give to his GF as he had a new 3mobile sim with more data. He did not want to cancel any contract.
He got PUK code from EE to transfer his number to three mobile, he did not want to cancel the contract only swap the number to 3 and give his old EE account to his GF.
EE want to charge him £2,000 for early termination of the contract and said if son got PUK code from 3mobile they would transfer it back, this then caused a [roblem with 3mobile who are charging him early termination fee but he did not want to terminate the contract only swap his number he has till Sunday to resolve this or pay the fee. Any help would be greatly appreciated

First thing first - find out what exactly he asked for
PUK code is for SIM card when is locked using wrong PIN code
PAC code is for porting mobile number out to another network.
I guess it was PAC number. Based on experience he was told it will terminate contract and he used it anyway. Probably only way is to try contact EE and ask them if you can continue contract using another number. I know they agree for business contract, not sure about consumer. You'll have 2 contract to pay monthly but can be cheaper than paying early termination fee.2 -
As above....when he got the Pac Code he would have been told that if he transferred his number there would be an early termination charge even if he did it by text he would of received a final bill.
You cannot just transfer a number while you are in a contract because as soon as it goes over to the new provider the contract automatically finishes that don't mean you don't have to pay the remainder of the contract off.
If he gets a Pac Code from Three he will have the same situation all over again.
To owe that amount of money he must have been paying for a top of the range Mobile phone.
The only way round it is to pay the final bill to EE may be ask them if he can pay installments before the debt recovery people get involved, because it will become worse for him.
1 it will muck up his credit score.
2 the debt people will put there fees on top.
3 you could end up with the Bailiffs knocking on his door.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.1 -
Thanks for the responsesIt was the PAC code he got sorry. Is there no way of getting the threemobile contract up and running again rather than have to the early termination fee?0
