Out of contract with Virgin, can I take up a new customer offer?

I know technically I can't, but does anything stop me saying "I'm leaving you from 13th September" whilst taking out a new install that starts 14th September?
Or how about my partner taking it in her name this time instead of mine?
I'm being offered  a contract £32 per month when the new customer offer is under £20 per month.

    Ask them.

    Search the market and say I can get this that and the other from <somebody else> for <whatever>, but I'd rather stay with you, what can you do for me?  I notice you have a deal for new customers at <whatever> a month, can you match that for me?

    Yes, this will work for your partner.  If you have a fixed telephone, you will very likely lose the number.

    100% certain Virgin won't let you sign up as a new customer if you already have an account with them.  Virgin customer services never match new customer offers when you ring them in our experience.

    Giving VM 30 days notice to terminate all services, and then patiently waiting for VM Outbounds team to 'hopefully' call you usually within a week, to offer you a deal to stay is only other option.  eg. 100mb or 200mb fibre for £25 pm or less is typical retention deal which has always worked for us for many years  You cannot phone VM and ask to speak to Outbounds team btw.
