Which filler to use around the rubber hose?

There is a hole between the bricks, through which the rubber hose from the washing mashine passes.
I need to fill up the hole with something, that will not leave any gaps and stop any smell coming in the house (as the rubbish compund is at the other side) but at the same time would not either squize the hose making it to rip, would not retract becasue of it getting cold in the winter or hot in the summer, thereofre creating the gap between the hose and the filer.
I am thinking of using expanding foam, just not sure if it is the best material to use around the rubber hose.
Will appreaciate the advice here.

There is a square shape compound, that is acessible only from outside and he rubbish bags are held in there. It is exactly between the washing mashine and where the water and drainage pipes are.And the holes were made on the sides of the compound for those hoses to enter and exit the compound. However through those holes, the rubbish smell enters the house and is unbearable especially when it is that hot and food rots really bad.0

Still trying to figure out why you have a bloody great big hole in the wall directly into the property from a rubbish compound for the washing machine hoses, there are proper ways to do things. Anyway, expanding foam is the usual bodge way to fix bigger bodges. A picture paints a thousand words. Who is responsible for maintenance of the property as this would certainly come under a health hazard.

This is how the hoses were arranged before we moved in.So have to deal with the problem as it stands regardless of the reason it is originated from. FInding it hard to sleep with all house smelling rubbish.0

Was it perhaps an old exit for a tumble drier vent pipe ? about the right size0

If you seal those hoses in the hole it's gonna be a right pain if you need to change the hoses. To me it would make more sense to make a proper job of it & hard plumb using copper pipe for the water and Marley type waste pipe in through the hole then connect the hoses to the hard plumbing brought inside the building. Then seal it.1

The OP said four square inches, not four inches square.bob_a_builder said:Was it perhaps an old exit for a tumble drier vent pipe ? about the right size
