Car dealer mislead me about deposit
Hello,
I went to view a car this morning at a local dealership and the car I went to view was being re-sprayed so I was unable to view it, however the sales person said leave your name and number and I'll let you know when it's available to view and you can leave us with a deposit of £300 which is refundable after viewing the car and it's so no-one beats you to it, which I did then he went on to talk about finance etc. He then took a few more details and ended up applying for finance for me. I have since decided I do not want this car but the company have said that because I've made a deposit that I have agreed to buy the car dependant on my finance application. I was genuinely under the impression that the deposit was just so I could view it without someone else buying it and if I'm not happy then I would get my money back.
I have been asked to email the owner of the company to see if he'll refund. Which I have done and awaiting reply.
Thanks for reading 👍

True 'local' dealer or part of a chain ?
How did you pay the deposit - cash/debit card/credit card ??0 -
Local dealer,
Paid via debit card.0 -
Personally I would never put a deposit on anything I wasn't 100% sure of buying but each to their own I guess.1
