ombudsman and upload speeds petition? (virgin = scam)

hello
how do we get all internet services sold especially on comparison sites to display the upload speeds as well
since no normal service in this country is symmetric (which in my opinion it should be) the upload speed is different to download speed and it should be stated!
virgin media scams people by saying they have the fastest internet but they actually have the slowest! they only have good download but the latency is the worst and the upload speed is the worst and therefore the whole internet experience is much worse on virgin. virgin has the worst and most asymmetric connection but they keep that well hidden! it should be on the front page!
when i complained i was told there is no law that they have to tell people so how do we fix this?
ombudsman = useless

Because in all honesty most people don't care about the upload speed, they're more interested in the download speed.

Broadband providers place all their emphasis on download speeds because the vast majority of the stuff you do online involves downloading. Everything from opening a simple web page to streaming 4K video on Netflix is affected by your download speed. By and large, the faster it is the better your experience will be.

But you're uploading all the time, too. Every time your computer communicates with a website or other online service it does so by uploading packets of data to those services. This is how it opens a web page or logs you in to your online bank account. However, the amount of data involved is so small that it's unaffected by your upload speed. It all happens instantaneously.

This means that your upload speed is irrelevant for day-to-day web use, which is just as well because it's usually a lot slower than your download speed. Broadband providers know that downloading is more important, so they configure their system to give that priority.  Where it does matter is when you're uploading large amounts of data.

its not much different with BT -- our upload is 1/10th of our download.
Hopefully it will improve soon when we get FTTP

this is not correct at all
first of all upload speed effects the response of a website and is especially important for video calls and gaming because it reduces the lag for example so you dont talk over each other or in a game the difference between winning and losing in milliseconds.
due to the upload speed being so bad on virgin the latency is also terrible. this is the main issue. on a cheap normal broadband i get less than half the latency of virgin! thats crazy!
2nd the virgin upload speed is so bad that i stopped using my cloud storage because i dont want to leave the computer on wasting electricity just to finish syncing. that actually costs more in electricity that the internet service!
3rd yes it shouldnt matter that its less than download but what im saying is that its so low its terrible and for certain things like cloud storage its unusable.
the reason people here arent complaining as much as me is because they havent moved recently from a country with multi gigabit speeds. its like going backwards in time i see how painfully slow it is and i see the difference very clearly even on the exact same device.
so i guess if people dont get it then nothing is going to happen
i am hoping BT also brings fiber, it could be because virgin has a monopoly at the moment with fiber .. im sure they can easily triple speeds if they wanted to but theyve got to make up for costs of all the infrastructure built but then it was heavily subsidised.. .

These sort of posts come along every couple of years .(so i guess if people dont get it then nothing is going to happen)
BT FTTP is 80/20 for me  even though i dont need 20 . Higher speeds on FTTP potentially up to 1GB .

Virgin can sell whatever product they feel they need to, if you dont like it you dont have to go with them.

i think this is where 5g networks will come in, ive seen three already offering some people home wifi using mobile network towers. it doesnt make sense to have two companies (BT & virgin) both lay down literally thousands of miles of fiber just for there to be competition in high speed internet. virgin should  be forced to provide a good service or allow others to use their fiber just like what happens with phone lines.
but if that doesnt happen there will be more demand for 5g infrastructure. just i dont see that happening in my area any time soon
