Over massively on a phone bill
My parents mobile bill has come to approx £156 this month and similar in previous months when it should be less than £40.
The problem is my dad going over on his minutes as he’s down for 500 minutes for some reason. We are Planning on changing the packages for them However my mum is insisting she isn’t happy that he wasn’t informed that he’s going over on his minutes so much and no help was offered to work out a better deal (as contract phones had long been paid off) to solve this, instead it keeps on happening. Any advice (other than changing plans as we are going to do that, he definitely needs unlimited minutes)
thank you

How can he possibly be paying £40 a month? Most networks will do unlimited minutes and texts for around £8 - £9 a month. It's his own responsibility to keep within his bundle allowance. He can ask nicely if his current network will write off some of the cost but it's ultimately down to him to control his own use.

I'm no expert (as the following may suggest!). My moby bill soared because - unbeknown to me - I had data roaming app's left on permanently. All switched off now, I only turn it on when needed. Bit of a pain but saves a fortune! Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!0

As soon as their contract reached its minimum term, they should have changed it to suitable SIM-only tariff at a fraction of the £40 monthly cost. It's a customer's own responsibility to do this, you can't expect the network to tell you that you're spending far too much with them.Evolution, not revolution0

They are not going to tell you to move to a sim only deal unlesss it becomes a requirement. And at 500 mins I would guess aroundf a 10 year old one. SHould be unlimited calss/texts /and sey 10 gig data (it's all data, I wish they would stop saying otherwise, 1g closed a long long time ago (and all has been data since)).0

Just get a pac as soon as possible and switch to another provider.

What is he doing to use in excess of 500 minutes ? As others have said, switch to a decent SIM only. I currently pay £6 for 4GB data with unlimited minutes and texts, my daughter is on what I consider a stupid price contract at £20 but that is for 60GB data with unlimited minutes and texts so even an expensive contract is half what they are currently paying.
