Lebara Refuses to provide VAT receipt or VAT invoice

Hello.

I've just got a new Lebara SIM card and mobile mumber which I have activated so I could login to my account.

What is my surprise when I am trying to get a VAT receipt/Invoice and there is nowhere within my account where I can get it.

Then I decided to get in touch with them via a chat, but they said " I am afraid that we do not provide invoice for your payment as we are a pay as you go provider if you wish to have a top up history we can help you with the same. "

Sure that can't be right...

I believe mobile phone topups are VAT free, but the call charges on your tariff are inclusive of VAT (so you could argue for a £20 top up the calls cost £16.66 and the VAT is £3.34)

My provider does not supply an invoice either on PAYG.

Is it a business account? Probably not on Lebara? Same with 3, 3 do not supply VAT invoices for domestic accounts. If you need a VAT invoice to claim back VAT for business purposes you will end up having to take out a business account.

I've had very similar issues with this firm refusing to give out their VAT number. Despite it being UK law that they must supply it. Here is the VAT Record: GB100126296 for Lebara Ltd

You do NOT need to be a registered business to claim back VAT. Any self-employed person, including many foresters & farmers claim back VAT.

Some Clubs & Societies and " Non-Incorporated Associations " may also be able to claim back VAT.

If you look on the Lebara help page, this is what it says:

Website:

1. Log in to your MyLebara account.

2. Click on Account, then select Payment History.

3. Locate the order for which you need a VAT invoice and click on Download to save the receipt in PDF format.
