sent item a few weeks ago , jiffy bag 1st ckass with proof of posting , seems to have gone missing , trying to fill in online claim form and are being asked for "valid tracking number" , , dont have one , just proof of postage , and till recept

If it was small parcel size rather than large letter you may be able to add the reference number from your post office receipt.0

That's not a required field, so if you don't have an actual tracking number you can leave it blank.0

You should be able to skip past that box as you don't have a tracking number.
If it won't let you continue with the form unless you put a number in the "track reference number" box then you may need to start the form again (close the window and open it again).1 -
If you posted on the 28th then you are too early for claiming surely?1

You are claiming the parcel was posted on 28 July. Today is 7 August. That isn't 10 working days.
