When using my Garmin satnav in the USA, it always pronounces Dr as doctor (for those that don't know, Dr is a common abbreviation for drive in the USA) so you end up with instructions such as:AdrianC said:"St" is a common abbreviation for both Saint and Street - it's probably most common as the latter.
