Thank you @Turbocat  - very helpful - I have similar issues with VCS - they sent me details of another person. Mark Robinson, VCS data compliance team, state that it was an "unfortunate oversight"...

They also sent a letter stating that they had been awarded a CCJ and threatened bailiffs.

I will use your case & the very helpful link from @D_P_Dance to seek damages from VCS.

Anyway 2 months ago I got my letter from the courts confirming they had officially instigated t claim via the small claims. I followed all your instructions and posted my defence bundle off on Monday, and today have received confirmation that it has been 'struck out as an abuse of power'.

I'm absolutely delighted and this is actually the second unfair ticket that I've now successfully challenged and won and it wouldn't have been possible without this forum and the incredible amount of info you guys have collated in helping fight these scum bags. I hope this gives some hope to others that are currently fighting them!
