Paying TV Licence by Cheque

I never watch the BBC so this year I have cancelled my direct debit and unplugged all the TV's. We only watch Netflix and Amazon Prime these days... However my wife moaned at me saying that she occasionally watched iPlayer.
So I have relented for a further year. I didn't want to restart a direct debit so I have paid by cheque, which you are allowed to do.I sent the cheque for £157.50 with the details on the back of the cheque on 29/07/2020. It hasn't been cashed yet and I have started getting threatening letters and emails of TV Licencing !
I did have the foresight of taking of photo of the cheque next to the current date and time before positing it (as evidence). However shall I just ignore it and see what happens. I have actually paid them by a method that they list as an option, and it isn't my fault they are slow and haven't cashed it yet.

I suspect it's LH versus RH, neither knows what other's doingAs for letters, look on youtube, and in these COVID days stuff all is going to happen for agesEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

I would reply to the TVL email confirming you HAVE paid for a licence, sending a photo of the cheque as proof.I doubt anything will happen, but if it does then you'll have an audit trail showing that you did pay and actively confirmed it with them. If their organisation is so poor that they end up taking erroneous enforcement action then I can't believe a court in the land will find in their favour.2
