Not for long, some posters are telling us that this market will rocket when everyone realises they need a garden for the next lock down.ProDave said:There are plenty of nicer rural properties for less if you don't need to be in any particular location. The market in the far west is buzzing just now, but that doesn't mean even a large fraction of the interest will translate into sales or massively higher prices. People soon forget and fall back into old ways, if circumstances allow. We don't know yet for how long working from home will free up people to move from the South East.An agent was interviewed recently on my local radio. She said interest had been much higher than for some years just after lockdown ended. However, she added, "It's a little strange, when you consider what's coming down the track towards us all."

A wiser choice. Bit cold in the winter; colder than the Scottish place, despite people's perceptions, but drier.JGB1955 said:The garden is far too big for my liking and the heating bills must be astronomical. This would be more like my 'escape to the country' sort of place https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-71597260.html

The house was absolutely stunning, the views fantastic and it was in a little hamlet with friendly neighbours but after it was finished, I changed my mind, sold up and moved back to the London suburbs/home counties where I lived most of my adult life. Village life was just too different after being a townie for so long and having to get in the car for even a pint of milk was too depressing. As others say, it's colder and wetter than what you're used to. Noticeably so. My partner is from that area and she moved down south as she couldn't stand the cold, wet and the general attitude of people from that neck of the woods.

I think a lot of that 1608mm fell yesterday!GDB2222 said:Rainfall is 1608mm a year, on average. London is 584mm. Are you ready for three times as much rain? Short days in winter? Insects in summer?People live there, so it’s probably fine, but it has drawbacks.
Not sufficient drawbacks to make me move back to London (and I loved living in London).GDB2222 said:And whether you can get a Waitrose delivery.
You can. When I get a Waitrose delivery the driver is often off round there next.1 -

Are you the vendor of this house?
If not this thread is the most bizarre I've seen in a while.0 -

That house was in Edinburgh and I sold it as the whole renting it out / landlord thing was way to much hassleif at first you don't succeed then sky diving is not for you.1

Nearest railway station is Garelochhead, which is more like 6 miles, and that's on the West Highland line so trains only once every couple of hours. 13 miles drive to Helensburgh Central which is the nearest station with a reasonably frequent service.andyinlondon said:For work the navy base / Babcock is a large employer 4.5 miles away, and Glasgow is an hour away by car or there is a train station 4 miles away or 67mb Internet for home woring.

People who buy that house don`t do grunt work in an office every day, they have money or their work can be done remotely or partly from home, great space for someone or a family that wants a bit of space away from a city.AW618 said:
The main drawback is likely to be the same as any "cheap" house in the country; it is next to impossible to find any sort of work within a reasonable radius. This is what makes them cheap inthe first place.GDB2222 said:Rainfall is 1608mm a year, on average. London is 584mm. Are you ready for three times as much rain? Short days in winter?
