Hi, New to this forum.
As Ryanair advertised its return of flying to certain places , i thought i'd book a few days in (Dublin) Ireland.... I booked my wife and 3 kids for this coming 24th August and to return on 27th. i booked this about 2 weeks ago, then a few days back i got an email that they changed the outgoing day to the 23rd, i telephoned them (at 0.13p/min for an hour and half wait) that my wife could not do this trip because she has appointment on the 23rd, so as not to upset the kids i had to pay a name change for my other daughter to come instead because they are looking forward to the trip....
I had to mess about changing my hotel dates and car hire etc because of this .....
moving forward to Today, on a chance coversation, i was told "dont forget the 14 quarantine rule", ?. i'm now thinking i got mislead on booking this as the flight return is 3 days later, i'm sure the agent on the telephone would of known about the 14 day ruling. i now cant get in touch with Ryanair, as they are not picking up, I'm worried i'm going to lose all my money, or fly to Ireland and then sent back home on next flight .......
i havent a clue what to do, advise needed

It's not a scam.
The same quarantine rules, whatever they may be at the time, will apply whether you fly on 23rd or 24th.0 -
Quarantine is not policed, set or controlled by the airlines. Nothing to do with them1

You are free to fly to Ireland, you will not be sent back. But current Eire rules require UK visitors to 'restrict their movements' on arrival for 14 days. That may change in the next 3 weeks, or it may not. No-one knows. The Eire gov't site says it will be reviewed every 2 weeks.
You have not been 'scammed' by Ryanair. They do not make the entry rules, and it's up to you to check the requirements before you book.
Your best bet may be to move the flight dates to later on in the year, for which you should only be charged the price difference. or see if you are covered by your holiday insurance. No free lunch, and no free laptop

The Irish quarantine regulations haven't suddenly materialised. Onus is totally on the passengers to check for themselves.1

No Scam. You just rather foolishly didn’t check the requirements for the country you are visiting prior to booking. There is a 14 day quarantine requirement for U.K. citizens entering Southern Ireland and that applied when you booked the original trip. Scam is an over used word.1

No scam here to report.
Your free to do research on it, by any chance you missed all the news.

As others have said, Government entry restrictions are not the responsibility of the airline. It is always the passenger's responsibility to ensure they meet entry requirements at a destination, have all necessary documentation to do so, and are able to follow any restrictions. Even in normal times, most airlines stay well clear from offering any such advice or guidance to passengers because Governments can and do change things. In Covid times it's a complete nightmare.
I don't want to add insult to injury, but when Ryanair changed your dates, you could have asked for a full refund, you'd have been entitled to one. As it stands, now you've moved the booking I'm not sure there's much you can do. Perhaps one last try to talk to them and see if they'll let you cancel as a gesture of goodwill, although Ryanair aren't famed for their better nature.0 -
One more thought to help you try and salvage something.... when did you book? For bookings from June onwards (I think) Ryanair are waiving their flight change fee. You can log into your booking and move the flights to a future date without paying a change fee. If the new flights are more expensive, you'll have to pay the fare difference.0

what i'm saying, is i booked a 3 day return,,,,, surely it would of flagged up and the agent could of informed me this isnt possible...
i was miss sold i believe ...... knowing it isnt possible to do a 3 day return trip.... i'm out of pocket £hundreds,0 -
And what everyone else is saying is that it is not the airline's responsibility to keep up with Government regulations and amend their websites or booking conditions accordingly. There are potentially passengers that won't have to quarantine on arrival in Ireland. As seen with the UK Government's decision on Spain last week, these things are changing rapidly at the moment.Jay_007_Jay said:what i'm saying, is i booked a 3 day return,,,,, surely it would of flagged up and the agent could of informed me this isnt possible...

You weren't mis-sold, even if you feel you may have been.
Have you considered my suggestion of moving the booking? Might be the only option to try and salvage the money?2
