Indesit engineers wrecked my spindryer.

Earlier this year I contacted indiset regarding my spindryer which was badly corroded externally but was still functioning perfectly. Indiset offered to send an engineer to inspect it, even though it is out of warrenty. The inspection visit resulted with the engineer saying replacement parts were needed. The second visit ended up with the engineer dismantling the spindryer before realising he needed even more parts, leaving it in pieces. The third and final engineer visit resulteld in my spindryer being dismantled yet further. The engineer said he still needed one more part to repair the unit leaving my machine in pieces together with a mountain of spare parts. I was later informed by indesit that the required sapre part is no longer available and the machine cannot be reassembled. indesit has offered a concessionery discount for me to buy a brand new spindryer from them and will accept no responsability for destroying my spindryer. I have contacted indesit several time stating I do not want a new spindryer, all I want is a used/second hand working spindryer, which is what I had. There final response is that I should seek legal advise if I am not satisfied. Is there anything I can do, please help?

So find out the cost of a second hand spin/dryer if that model and ask them to pay that amount.
How old was it?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I have suggested that but they refuse any form of payment . It is 3 and a half years old. It was working and only had a rusty shell which was my complaint. It is now in pieces as the engineer thought he had all of the parts but k OK after found one part is unavailable.0

Buy a new spindryer and take them to small claims for the value of your old one. Do some research on eBay, etc. to get an idea of its value. A three year old rusted spin dryer - £30?0

Think you are missing the point Aylesbury_Duck. The reason I complained was because it was rusting, hence them sending an engineer beause it should not have rusted after only 3 years.

If they demolished my property should they not be responsible to replace it?0

I'm not. They have taken apart your rusting, three year old appliance and left it broken. It can't be fixed. In my opinion, you may be owed the cost of replacing it with a three-year old appliance of similar specification, depending on whether you are exercising your consumer rights with the retailer or warranty rights with Indesit. What point have I missed?samoulie said:Think you are missing the point Aylesbury_Duck. That's a ridiculous argument.samoulie said:If they demolished my property should they not be responsible to replace it?0 -
How much are they offering off a new dryer?0

Did you buy it directly from Indesit?
If not, then you need to go through the retailer and claim under the Consumer Rights Act as it not being fit for purpose. They should then offer you a replacement, repair or refund. The refund would be a partial refund based on the 3.5 years of use you have had.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

If the engineers only came to inspect the corrosion, why did they start dismantling a machine which was functioning OK?If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

If the retailer has any sense, they will say "it was working fine until Indesit pulled it to bits". It's not their fault it's not now working.pinkshoes said:Did you buy it directly from Indesit?

If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1
