Except my wife and I do not want an extra bed - we only want the "first bed" - one double bed between the two of us.
I just realise how that sounds, but it is true I always like to keep at least 5' between the two of us, especially with the need to practice social distancingWe will, obviously take a couple of air-beds so that we can sleep either side of the said double bed.
I do see that the listings and prices have now been revised / corrected, so I think there was a genuine error and, even with the extra charge, we have got the rooms as a lower rate than currently available.0 -
Just when you think you've seen and heard it all.................
Hats off to you Mr G and you cannot possibly live up to your name because £100 a night for a small double in a guest house minus the bed sounds a lot to me. Maybe am more used to the reasonable north Yorkshire? Please do let us know how you get on (Basil Fawlty may just join you )

I did also consider that maybe it was a charge for an extra bed. Or maybe the room only had a small double and they're charging you to upgrade it to a double. Covering for a rate error, whilst plausible, seems hardly worth their effort for £5 a night, and to come up with such a strange excuse?! Perhaps worth asking a manager whilst you're there what it was all about! Even if just to add some more depth to the mystery,
Anyway, enjoy your trip to Weymouth, I do look forward to your report!0 -
I don't think the rate is particularly high for peak school holidays and short notice booking.
We will of course eat out to help out. Anything we can do for the national interest.0 -
We are now 'here' and the list of items not included is astounding. Not really sure that these are all down to coronavirus.1

Do you have a bed 🤔😂.0

Yes, quite a small one squeezed into a very small room.
I wonder whether anyone on here knows whether it is allowed to have a fan in the room. The hotel day this is now ILLEGAL under new coronavirus rules (their capitalisation). I cannot find this stated in Government guidance.0 -
I can't wait for the full story and review of this!1

Nothing that I can find in this guidance: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19/hotels-and-other-guest-accommodation
HSE state that the risk of transmission from using fans is extremely low where there is good ventilation https://www.hse.gov.uk/coronavirus/equipment-and-machinery/air-conditioning-and-ventilation.htm
Regardless, as the occupants of the room will most likely be from a single household any risk is completely academic.
It appears to me that the staff of this establishment have fewer brain cells between them than the establishment's star rating.0 -
Thanks @TheShape - I had looked at the guest accommodation guidance you linked.0
