Am I legally obliged to pay invoice for web hosting?

I have had a domain hosting subscription with one.com for a few years. The subscription autorenewed on 28th July 2020 but the price has gone way up and I haven't gotten around to finding out how to cancel it until today (they don't make it easy). Now, they're also telling me to pay a late fee of £10. I tried to cancel my subscription on their website but it is telling me that I need to pay the outstanding invoice before I can cancel. What I want to know is do I have to pay? Do they have legal recourse to get the money off me or can I just flat out refuse to pay them?

I would say yes.
The onus was on your to check for cancellation dates.
A lot of companies use auto renewed hoping that people don't check and assume that they will forget - something you did
