Universal credit and moving house

hi there,
I get uc with my housing element included in it. I report on 1st of the month for income and expenditure as self employed and paid in arrears on the 8th of the month. I moved house to a new housing authority on 3-st July and reported on 1st August. My payment has been calculated With my new address And I feel this is wrong as for the period of calculation 1st July-31st July I was living at my old address.

Can anyone confirm what the situation is?
I will call them tomorrow as wel

thanks
sal

What dates are your assessment periods?

It's all about your cirumstances at the end of the assessment period.
If you  notified the change prior to the end of the assessment period, then it will be correct, as they use the actual declared cisrumstances on that date when calculating an award.

As tomtom says your payment for the whole assessment period is based on your circumstances on the last day of the assessment period. Your assessment periods appear to be 2nd of the month to 1st of the month. If you were in the new property on 31st July and your assessment period ends on 1st August then applying the new rent/LHA to that whole assessment period is correct. That works to your advantage or disadvantage depending on whether your rent has gone up or down.

Your assessment period was from 1st July to 31st July.  You reported the change on 1st August 2020, advising that you moved address on 31st July.  So therefore the Housing was based on what you have reported.    The change in Housing costs must have been within an acceptable threshold amount, as otherwise the Housing would not have been updated on the statement issued.

Remember that Universal Credit is paid to you in arrears covering July, so the amount you have received, can be used towards any liability you have towards the previous Housing.

If the OP is required to report their income and expenditure on 1st of the month does this not mean that the last day of the AP is 1st month or does reporting take place the day after the AP?

Report income and expenses for self employment appears on the claimants to-do list a day after the end of the AP.
Also OP's post says "as for the period of calculation 1st July-31st July"

That's not correct.  Report Income and Expenses appears in the to-do list on the last day of the AP.

It does this to allow the Reported Income and Expenses to be taken into account in that AP.  The to-do acts as a payment blocker and prevents a calculation of UC entitlement until it is completed.

That’s what I thought - but I don't know which one of you is correct.

Have only ever seen the report income and expenses appear on AP end date +1. It appears one day after end of AP, as the income & expenses is accounting to midnight on the last day of the AP. If it appeared on the last day of the AP, the claimant may then declare income & expenses, before they had received income or paid expenses on the last day of the AP. I believe this is correct. The statement for the AP is still not issued until the claimant completes the report income & expenses to do.
